at the Hotel Sonne in Karlsruhe-Stupferich.

Our hotel and restaurant have been a house with heart and history for three generations — run by our family with warmth, personality and genuine attention to our guests.
Whether you are travelling for business, enjoying a weekend away, attending a meeting or planning a family holiday, you will find the right place to unwind and feel at home.

Located in a quiet hillside district of Karlsruhe, yet not far from the city centre, we offer 74 comfortable rooms spread across five buildings, creating a personal and welcoming atmosphere.
You can book our single and double rooms in three categories directly — and always at the best price — through our online booking tool.
For triple (3-bed) rooms or 4-bed/family rooms, simply contact us by phone or email. We are happy to advise you personally and help you find the room that best suits your needs.

We also offer wheelchair-accessible rooms, allergy-friendly rooms and one smoking room. Our double rooms come with either a double bed or twin beds (depending on availability). This means every guest will find exactly what they need for a comfortable stay.

► All rooms are equipped with a shower, WC, hairdryer, satellite TV, telephone, towels and soap.

Families are very welcome: children up to 6 years stay free of charge when sharing their parents’ bed.
If you require any additional services — such as a baby cot, bringing a dog, or anything else — just let us know when booking. This helps us prepare everything perfectly for your arrival.

For our guests, 45 free parking spaces are available, including 10 spaces for vans (up to 4 t, height 3.00 m). We also offer two covered charging stations for electric cars, three e-bike charging points, and a bicycle repair stand – ideal for anyone travelling sustainably. A tour bus can also stop conveniently and free of charge right at our entrance.

Our fitness room, available free of charge to all hotel guests, as well as 24/7 snack and beverage vending machines – also accessible to external visitors – complete our range of services.

Arrival / Departure

Check-in: Your room is ready from 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.
Check-out: On the day of departure, we kindly ask you to check out by 11:00 a.m.

If your arrival or departure time changes, please let us know in advance.
If you plan to arrive after 6:00 p.m., please make sure to call us so we can hold your room for you.

Our reception is not staffed around the clock, but arrivals are possible at any time. Simply ask us for our “Check-in Information.” On Sundays and public holidays, we can be reached by phone – we’ll be happy to coordinate your arrival with you personally.

Our Room Categories

With us, you have options: Our single and double rooms are available in three categories, differing in size, location and features – but they all share one thing: a warm, comfortable atmosphere.

Comfort Rooms are located on the ground and first floors, face the quiet back of the building, and offer the most space – perfect for guests who enjoy a more generous layout.
Standard Rooms combine pleasant comfort with a balanced price-performance ratio.
Economy Rooms are the budget-friendly choice – some with sloped ceilings, available as twin-bed doubles or as cosy singles. They are ideal for short stays or for travellers who prefer simplicity without giving up comfort.

👉 For your information: the city tax is EUR 3.50 per night (from 01/01/2026: EUR 4.00) for guests aged 18 and above.

This is how the day begins with us

Start your morning with a generous breakfast in our light-filled winter garden.
Enjoy a varied buffet with fresh bread rolls, yogurt, assorted mueslis, fine teas, aromatic coffee specialties, fresh juices, and egg dishes prepared on request. As a special highlight, we also offer a selection of cheeses and homemade sausages from our own butchery.

For early risers and business travelers, our breakfast is ready from 6:00 a.m. on weekdays.

Guests who are not staying at the hotel are also welcome to join us for breakfast with a reservation.

Breakfast times

Our Restaurant

In the evening, our restaurant welcomes you with fresh regional and traditional Baden specialties. Alongside our main menu, we offer an additional seasonal menu featuring the chef’s current inspirations. We value true craftsmanship, preparing many dishes in-house — from our handmade Maultäschle (also available vegetarian) to meat and sausage specialties made according to old family recipes. During the warmer months, our cozy beer courtyard invites you to relax and dine outdoors.

From Monday to Saturday, our kitchen and service team is here for you from 5:00 p.m., and we gladly accept orders until 8:30 p.m.
On Sundays and public holidays, we give our team a well-deserved break — the restaurant remains closed on these days.

If you are planning a meeting, celebration, or group event, feel free to contact us — we are happy to open our restaurant outside regular hours for special occasions.

Payment Methods

In both our restaurant and hotel, you can conveniently pay in cash (EUR) or by card — we accept Mastercard, Visa, Maestro, Diners, and EC/Debit cards.
Please note that we are unable to accept 500-euro banknotes.
